When thinking about dental implants, dentists and prosthodontists tend to look at implant endurance, durability, and recurrence of complex problems. However, patients tend to focus on the cost of treatment and social and psychological effects.

Oral Health-Related Quality of Life

So what about this oral health-related quality of life? How does it affect you? Recently, a study was conducted by a researcher in Saudi Arabia to measure oral health-related quality of life after placement of an implant-supported crown.

A group of 79 healthy men and women were interviewed before implant therapy and then again at yearly intervals after therapy. They were asked to rate their functional limitation, physical pain, psychological discomfort, and social disability before and after implant placement.

Not surprisingly, all these variables decreased significantly between the first interview and after two years and three years, indicating a dramatically improved quality of life after tooth replacement.

What the Results Mean to You

Tooth loss involves a lot more than that gap in your smile. It affects numerous areas of your life and your ability to enjoy life to the fullest. Tooth loss is causing pain, difficulty chewing, and reduced self-confidence.

However, dental implants placed at our Rancho Penasquitos, CA office can restore your beautiful smile and give you back peace of mind because you know your life no longer has to revolve around a missing tooth.
